Default Evolution in decline in the scientific community

Hey all,
First post in this forum though i've read much. Perhaps I can attract the attention of the creationists and get an answer on this.

Where are all these "biologists" and "scientists" etc who are becoming creationists? I keep seeing goofy statements like "In fact, most scientists don't believe in evolution" or "Did you know that the theory of evolution is in decline in the scientific community?" There are variations of this statement such as "There are many agnostic scientists in genetic research but you won't find too many atheist working in cellular/genome research." (ignoring that "genetic research" and "genome research" are umm the same.)

I'm sorry, I just don't see it. There are a few religious creationists at the biomedical research center where I work, and they are just lab techs. No one i've asked here gives any indication that they have increasing belief in creationism.

I don't know how many are atheists like me, but my lab seems about 50-50, even in the Bible-belt. And they -all- buy evolution. Of course i'm in "molecular genetics."

Basically, if there are all these scientists who are are en masse converting to creationism, if there are huge percentages of diverse scientific communities who are increasingly abandoning "evolutionism" then just where the hell are they? Must be with God, b/c I sure as hell see no evidence of them.

Could you creationists maybe like start a project to collect data on these phenominal desertions of the scientific method? Maybe call it like "Project Adam and Steve" or something.

Theres a list of 100 evolution denying scientists, if you want to see it. You'll be very impressed.

How about NCSE's "Project Steve"? So far, 322 scientists named "Steve" have singed the statement that reads:

Quote:
Evolution is a vital, well-supported, unifying principle of the biological sciences, and the scientific evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of the idea that all living things share a common ancestry. Although there are legitimate debates about the patterns and processes of evolution, there is no serious scientific doubt that evolution occurred or that natural selection is a major mechanism in its occurrence. It is scientifically inappropriate and pedagogically irresponsible for creationist pseudoscience, including but not limited to "intelligent design," to be introduced into the science curricula of our nation's public schools.
Steves, by the way, make up about 1% of our population, which really says something about the number of scientists who are full-on evolutionists.

yeah yeah, i read the list of 100 scientists, but that's not my question. The creationists keep saying the theory of evolution is declining in favor among scientists. Sure sure.. 100 idiots is a lot of idiots, but that doesn't indicate any sort of -change- in the overall scientific community regarding evolution.

Project Steve is funny, I got a kick out of it, i'd add my name if i were a steve. That's why I suggested "Project Adam and Steve" since they always rail about gay people. (that's for another thread though).

Yeah, I don't see any decline in evilutionary belief in the scientific community any more than I see a decline in bullshit from the creo/ID community.

Of course it's bullshit. Like nearly everything the creationists/IDists say, they say it because it convinces people and not because there's any truth to it. This is a common propaganda technique known as inevitable victory, which capitalizes on people's inherent desire to be on the winning side. Glenn Morton recently gathered a collection of quotes showing that the creationists had been doing this for many decades, and yet somehow scientists still haven't abandoned evolution.

Personally, i always found this quite confusing. How can someone in a scientific field, especially scientists working with anatomical research, claim to be theists? It just reminds me of when i was in freshmen biology class and my teacher told us to write an essay on which parts of evolution and creation we believe to be true.

Quote:
"In fact, most scientists don't believe in evolution" or "Did you know that the theory of evolution is in decline in the scientific community?"
There is no way i would take any of these statements true. The poll or whatever it was was probably done by some religious group.

From the page theyeti linked to, Morris has been saying scientists are abandoning evo in droves. He's been saying it since the 60s. Where are these scientists? Maybe he should go back and read his old books and just maybe patterns of poor logic will jump out at him and he will make a public apology. I'll be here holding my breath.
