I own two, but one's a flintlock pistol dating back to the 1790s and the other's a percussion rifle made not long before the Civil War. They're all show and no go.

I have six. Two shotguns, two rifles, one revolver and one automatic. The shotguns and rifles are for hunting and the handguns are for targets. But because I have a three year old in the house, all of them stay in a locked cabinet or safe. I occasionally carry a handgun on my person outside of the target range, but that's only when work takes me to the more unsavory parts of town.

I learned to shoot and respect firearms when I was a kid from my grandfather. I learned how to shoot better during eight years in the Army. My little girl will learn to shoot when she gets older if she wants to. I think everyone should shoot a gun at least once in their life just to see what it's like. They don't have to take up the sport or do it again, but at least learn that shooting is not what it appears to be on TV.

Priceless, one of the funniest things I've read on here for a while!

That's what I used to think, but the reality is, some asshole may try to take what is yours, from you, in your own home, no matter where you live. I am so glad my wife, who was home alone in the middle of the day, had a gun and was able to use it when we had our "out in the middle of nowhere" home broken into long ago. She did not hit him, but he definitely left and never came back.

We have a few guns, most are family hand me downs, and permits to carry, but have not fired one in a couple of years. Haven't hunted anything since '95 either, I just go to the store to buy meat. I don't get as hungry that way
