Is taking someone's life a finite action?

Just ask the family of the victim.

On the same token, if you believe finite actions cannot warrant infinite consequences, then heaven does not exist, either.

I agree with the notion. Religion should be kind. Or simply love.

"All you need is Love"

Many people have discovered this truth. "once I was blind, now I can see", now I can see that I am blind.

Love love me do

DD - Love Spliff
DD-- Perhaps I own a different tranlastion of the Gospels:

"This child (Jesus) is chosen for the destruction and salvation of many in Israel." Luke 2:34

"And sorrow, like a sharp sword, will break your own heart." Luke 2:35

"Do you think I came to bring peace to the world? No, I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." Matthew 10:34

And so forth.

There is love, and pain and suffering. "The sharp edge of the razor is difficult to pass over: thus the wise say the path to Salvation is hard." Katha-Upanishad (note: non-Abrahamic)

That's right Gemma. There is no heaven.

Do you have a point here somewhere?

Yes, yes, murdering people sucks. But you have yet to show that it deserves, as its punishment, an eternity of torment. An eternity. Ideally, it'd be nice for some sort of punishment, but how does the punishment of hell fit any crime?

Point one: I was not arguing that hell does not exist because it is unjust. Your quoted "argument" that people disbelieve in hell because they do not want to take responsiblity for their actions was simply too laughable for me to waste time responding to.

Point two: "Then heaven does not exist." Is there something for me to argue here?

Unfarmilliar with the concept of the burden of proof, Gemma?

Dear, dear, Rimstalker, Heaven is eternal and therefore unjust. We don't deserve Heaven.

No, I don't think I'll be doing that.

Well, if you say so. Not believing in heaven, I'll just have to take your word for it. Personally, I feel like I'm in hell waiting for you to give a substantial reply to my post.

Devnet, are you serious?
If you are what gives you the impression that the true religion must be kind? Religion is based on God --- and the genuine article need not conform to our expectations.

From God's perspective, of course it is. Because if the murderer repents and is forgiven, then it is as if the murder had not happened at all. The murderer is not punished, there are no consequences. On the contrary, the murderer is rewarded with heaven.

This is one of the things I find most odd about Christianity; the Christian god apparently cares not one bit what humans do on earth, only what their attitude is towards him/her/it when they die.
