Lightbulb Primer for ancient Greek ethics

The Morality of Happiness, by Julia Annas.

This book is not so much an overview of the specifics of Greek ethical theories as it is a study into their common underlying structure. Julia Annas covers such issues as happiness and virtue, thinking about your life as a whole, and the relationship between concern for self and concern for others.

I'm already part way into this book, and it is fascinating reading.

Question

Does anyone here who know enough about both buddhism and stoicism to be able to compare and contrast the two?

jpbrooks:

Euda, I'm certainly no expert in this area, but I think Buddhism is more pantheistic than Stoicism. Stoicism seems to hold a more "panentheistic" view of the universe, where, for example, "God" is to the world as the "soul" is to a person.
Also, (I think that), Stoicism holds that "God" and "fate" are synonymous, whereas, I'm not certain that Buddhism is quite as "fatalistic" as that.
