I got an email alert from AU about a textbook disclaimer proposal in my home state--Oklahoma.

As I said when I crossed the border on my way out 20 years ago: "stupid fuckin' rednecks."

Default We gots HB-1128 here!

Yup, in Coloradie here, we all gots HB-1128 sayin that we gots to have "In God We Trust" hanged up in all them skools and state buildins!

I've written to all my state reps to tell them how offensive I find that bill. I got one response from a rep saying that he'll fight it tooth & nail... none of the other fifteen or so reps that I wrote to have responded. Ultimately, I'm sure it'll pass...

A good reason that could be cited to them is that if it results in a lawsuit that it will cost the state money which is not good in these times of tight state budgets. That they are likely to loose makes it seem more irrational. Even if I was sympathetic to such a bill (I not though) I would have a hard time supporting a bill that would result in an expensive court battle whose most likely result is that the law would be overturned.
