Angry If our Founding Fathers had Wanted a State Church...

If our Founding Fathers had wanted a state church, some sort of "Church of God the American", they would have set one up, and they would not have wasted time on phony "ecumenism".

My guess is that something like the Episcopal Church would have been America's state church, with everybody in any official position having to join it.

This is extrapolation from the current practice in Britain at the time; one had to subscribe to the Church of England's 39 Articles in order to have an official position -- and the Episcopal Church is the American branch of that church.

The Church of America would have been started by John Hancock in the spirit of worshipping money production and his signature. In recent years, it probably would have been purchased by Bank of America, which the government would have allowed due to growing budget problems. ;-)
