Quran and 19 and other books
I have been reading up on the whole thing with the Quran and the number 19. I have become convinced that the patterns therein are not by chance, especially considering the fact that the Quran gives special significance to the number 19. What I am wondering is, how plausible is it that the patterns contained therein occurred by human design? The patterns include things like the initials in the Quran at the beginnings of various surahs. For info just go to google and type in "mathematical miracle of the quran" and you will find out about it.
Please understand. This whole thing has gotten me confused. Other than these number patterns I see absolutely no reason to believe that the quran was divinely inspired. It strikes me as a rather silly book overall, but I don't know what to make of these patterns found in the book (and some outside of the book - for example, the "code" was discovered in 1974, 1406 lunar years -which is 19 times 74- years from the first revelation to Muhammed, surah 74 being where 19 is mentionned. What am I to make of this? Not one thing they found is miraculous in and of itself nor beyond chance, but there are only so many coincidences you can find before coincidence is not an option. I don't know what to make of it. Any thoughts? Kevin |

It means as much as any other numerology
There are lots of thoughts, but this article presents them far more effectively than I could:
Scientific "proof" of my divinity (To summarise: it demonstrates a large number of "unlikely" occurances of the number 7 in the author's life to prove that the author is God. As the author isn't actually God, all of those 7's don't prove anything other than the fact that you can get all sorts of numbers from anywhere you look. This works just as well for 19 as it does for 7.) |

Speaking of number, is the number 666 important in the field of math and science?

Quran , a Living Scripture
The Quran was revealed to humanity over 1400 years ago. There are several miracles in the Quran, besides number 19. Here are some scientific verses in the Quran. Note: most of these scientific discoveries were made only about 30 years ago.
God transmitted his Last Revelation to all of humanity via ArchAngel intermediary Gabriel. The Comforter (Prophet Muhammad) became the Seal of All Prophets. The Quran is 1400 years old and contains over 900 scientific verses that have serious implications for the way we view science and religion. Universe at its Infancy [41:11] Then He turned to the sky, when it was still gas, and said to it, and to the earth, "Come into existence, willingly or unwillingly." They said, "We come willingly." Big Bang and The Origin of Life From Water Chapter: 21, Verse: 30 Have not "those who disbelieve" known heavens and earth were of one piece, We parted them and, We made every living thing of water Will they not then believe? Expansion of the Universe Chapter: 51, Verse: 47 The heavens, We have built with power and, We are expanding it. Big Crunch and Reversal of Time Chapter: 21, Verse: 104 "The day" when, We shall roll up the heavens as a recorder rolls up a written scroll. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. Chapter: 77, Verse: 11 And, the messengers are brought into their time appointed (The prophets will be returned into their time as time runs backwards) Dimensional Travel Chapter: 25, Verse: 25 A day when the heavens and the clouds will be rent Asunder and the angels will be sent down "A grand descent Chapter: 18, Verse: 47 Think of the day when, We remove the hills, And you see the earth emerging and We gather them together, As to leave not one of them behind. Chapter: 84, Verse: 19 That you shall "ride" on from plane to plane Note: Jesus, Son of Mary was the penultimate Messenger of God. Jesus Christ called God "Allaha" in his native Palestinian language, Aramaic. He fulfilled 4/5 pillars of Islam and will complete Hajj (pilgrimage) during his Second Coming. He was not Greek. P.S I am aware that there are alternative theories in regard to Big Bang, such as the "Plasma theory". However these theories are based on speculation and fragmented and often conflicting pieces of info. The Big Bang is based on empirical evidence as well as mathematical formulas and advanced computer modeling. Big Crunch logically follows the Big Bang Cycle. |

Here is an amazing site that talks about the Quran and embryology. http://www.islam-guide.com/ch1-1-a.htm P.S: The Quran is not a silly book. It is a very concise pragmatic Scripture that is scientifically valid. It does NOT exhibit any nonsensical theories like Trinity or Salvation via Cruci-fiction. The Quran is logical and advocates Natural Law. |

This list doesn't look very impressive. In addition, some Christians claim that the Bible contains advanced scientific discoveries. I guess that your reaction to their lists will be the same as their reaction to yours.
In addition, how many scientific advances were made by studying either the Bible or Koran? None - both your and Christian lists were made after the discoveries were made, by performing a search for verses that could be interpreted as refering to them. Mike Rosoft |

Don't let your skepticism cloud your judgement. The list I've presented is extremely impressive by religious standards. You will not find too many religious scriptures with Scientifically accurate verses or even verses that are comparable. The fact remains that the Quran is a scientifically authentic Scripture. In fact , your Perception of History is greatly distorted . Any historian or scholar will find you greatly at error. After a few centuries Islamic civilisation brought the world a huge era of scientific advancements, paving the way for the Renaissance. The Quran inspired Science in a way that no civilization before it did. Muslim and Arab Scientists advanced the field of astronomy , invented algebra and were the first people to make Hospitals. It were the Muslims that first cured Cataracts surgery. They advanced many fields of learning in centers like Cordoba ,Spain and Baghdad's House of Wisdom. |

I think that it would be fun to put River and Bede together in the same room and watch them duke it out.
Or perhaps we could sponsor an online debate between River and Bede on whose religion is the true source of modern science. |
