Post Dumbass xtians claim that All Hallows Eve, or

the old Celtic Holiday of Samhain is evil simply because they are: 1. to lazy to go and do a little research to find out the real truth, or 2: they are too stupid to go find out the truth of the holiday, or 3: a combination of 1 and 2.

Samhain was the holiday and festival associated with the time before winter. Winter was associated with the risk of death from starvation and or exposure. It was also the time to honor the dead from the previous year.

You've got to understand that a Christian outlook is presented with a serious dilemma if God waited for the Roman Empire to spread the true faith -- you know, letting all those heathens who couldn't afford the toll for a call to Jerusalem in 33 ce.

Anyway, an admission that these people were not introduced to God's glory and had to work things out for themselves would reflect badly on God's sense of fair play, so it's much easier to push Satan into a Taranaich suit and believe an entity of their own pantheon was duping the Celts.

Just as one lie often leads to another, no magical belief can exist in a vacuum. ...or maybe I'm mixing metaphors.
