Default Writing a short story dealing with religion

I dunno if this fits well within this forum, but I'll give it a shot.

Basically, I'm writing a short story for shady purposes (well, no), and what better theme to tackle than religion? Unfortunately, i don't quite have all the good issues I'll deal with sorted out. Anyway, the plot is basically the lives of a bunch of people that are sinners. Each of them are breaking a commandment, although the degree in which they do so isn't always "hey look, i'm evil and I run people over", but more of a moral dilemma thing. Then one day, poof. The apocalypse. Everything's getting empty, the people are left to run. And judgment comes.

So, what issues can I raise with this, namely issues with regards to sin, judgment, and god's abandoning?

Maybe your characters get a chance to ask what exactly makes each of the 10 so sinful. Killing and stealing may be obvious, but since you live in a country where politics is a blood sport, maybe supporting the right is "stealing" and the left is "killing" (or vice versa, I don't know your own views).

Buena suerte, dude.

Well I am a Catholic and I have never heard such nonsense in my life. We/I were thought that sin is good (the laws were given to Moses for the conviction of sin), and that the forgiveness of sin during confession is aimed to renew our courage to sin some more. We do this because we/the priests knows that, in the end, the cross of eternal salvation is for sinners only and therefore it is good to be a sinner until judgement day.

Yeah I was a catholic too and I've never heard anything remotely similar to what you posted.

This story sounds a lot like the movie 'Seven.'

Well I'll be darned Andres. There must have been some protestants wolves lurking in the bush for your church to have been so protective of the flock. Where I was born the pasture was so large that the sheep could not get lost and so the priest would let us play all we wanted too. In fact, at times he was like part of the flock and so we never even knew the difference between day or night.
