Default Politically Correct... Hurricanes?!

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/ar...TICLE_ID=33896

Quote:
The congressional newspaper the Hill reported this week that Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) feels that the current names are too "lily white," and is seeking to have better representation for names reflecting African-Americans and other ethnic groups.

"All racial groups should be represented," Lee said, according to the Hill. She hoped federal weather officials "would try to be inclusive of African-American names."

A sampling of popular names that could be used include Keisha, Jamal and Deshawn, according to the paper.
I'm all for racial equality but isn't this going a bit far? After all, it's not like the names being used for hurricanes are only used for white people.

Also, here's a list of Hurricane names assigned... they seem pretty multicultural to me... http://www.fema.gov/kids/hunames3.htm

Good GAWD. I'm totally a white-guilt-having bleeding-heart liberal PC cop, and this is too ludicrous even for me.

Why would anyone WANT a destructive, deadly act of nature identified with one's ethnic group, anyway?

I am old enough <sob> to remember when hurricanes were named after women, and the National Organization for Women protested loudly enough, so that someone in authority decided to alternate men's and women's names.

But in these days of glorifying thugs and tough guys, maybe having a hurricane named after you is an honor.

Well, we could throw in even more names. I'd love to see Hurricanes Ceilidh, Mohammed, Raszagal, Galadriel, Locutus... oh, the possibilities.

As a Welsh-American I DEMAND that hurricanes be given Welsh names.

Aw heck, it's just because I wanna hear the weather guys try to pronounce "Blodeuwedd" and "Myfanwy".

Thumbs down

This is such bullshit. Yet another prime example of black "leaders" saying to all blacks "watch out, whites are racist." I mean, we can't even name our hurricanes without being discriminatory bigots, so why shuould we be able to be good on a day to day basis?

Who wants to have something horribly destructive named after them? Why not name them after tyrants? I can see the headlines:

Hurricane Hitler Hits the Florida Coast.
Hurricane Stalin Stalled over New Orleans.
Hurricane Pinochet Ricochets Around the Gulf

On 2nd thought, nevermind.

I actually like GW's idea. Hurricane Napolean III, Hurricane Kruschev, Hurricane Caligula, Hurricane Bush... the possibilities are endless...

Exactly!...

Hurricane Falwell
Hurricane Bakker
Hurricane Robertson
Hurricane Swaggart
Hurricane Crouch
Hurricane Phelps
Hurricane Dobson, etc.

... or would that simply aggrandize these blowhards further in the minds of the gullible?
