Early Jewish Writings - sneak preview
Hello,
I am developing a web site titled "Early Jewish Writings" in the tradition of my ECW site. http://www.earlyjewishwritings.com/ So far I have gotten only as far as 2 Samuel - the rest of the links are broken for now. I am posting the URL here now so that I can get comments and criticism on the concept, content, and layout of the site at this stage of its development. thanks, Peter Kirby |

Thanks for another interesting site. Sorry, I don't have any criticisms. I'm an novice at these things, but I enjoy reading the posted material.

Great bloodstained merciless gods!
I'm going to clone you, Peter, and make you write reports for me. I think some other topical sections you might consider: A "minimalist" section discussing those debates. A bib for Biblical archaeology texts. A section on jewish messianic ideology maybe discussions/ bibs on jewish magic and astrology Maybe you could shrink the DSS stuff by linking to the Orion center. This site is going to be much bigger than your NT writings site. The potential for unlimited expansion is enormous..... Great idea! Vorkosigan |

Letter of Rehoboam?
"_Letter of Rehoboam_ does not have the references to time and place which we found in the _Treatise of Shem_. However, date and provenance may be deduced. The _Letter_ is written in a Koin Greek which closely resembles the New Testament, both in grammar and vocabulary. This implies that both belong to the same general time and milieu. But the lack of Christian references, explicit or implicit, means that the _Letter_ was probably written before Christians were numerous and well-known. Later magicians, Jewish or pagan, did not hesitate to invoke Jesus' name./127/ Thus the most likely date is during the first century CE or the early second century." |

You are still going to have to buy a book (or borrow one) if you want to read the Dead Sea Scrolls. All of the publishers refused to allow an online transcription when someone I know asked about it.
