Secular Footprints
We've all seen that stupid christian poem footprints. I've decided to make it a bit more secular. and a more realistic ending :-)
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonged to him and the other to the LORD. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. It was at this moment that he realized the "Lord" had never really been there or done anything. All the good things that happened in his life. He made happen himself. And that he made it through bad times. Not through the lord but becuase of his own inner strength. At that moment he realized he never needed the lord in the first place. |

How about the ending of that inspid poem going like this: "There was only one person's footsteps in the sand when you were down and out, because I can't stand being around loosers, so I took off. Once you got your act together, I came back. I just can't stand hanging around you jackasses when you're in a mood." sayeth the lord.

If I recall correctly, someone penned a spoof, "Buttprints in the Sand" - I think it's over on the Humour board.
