Even if, it did sound a little anti-male.

I intended no such thing, and I apologize if my meaning wasn't clear. Women DO have control over
men, by dint of biology. Men want women. (Straight men, anyway.)
And straight women do not want men?

Quote:
And any time an individual possesses something that another individual wants, the possessor has a measure of control. This goes for everything from sex to auctions on eBay.
That would assume that women do not want sex and only use sex as a way to control men.

It's common sense.
Well I do not have as much experience with sexual relationships as I wanted to, but if they are anything like you say (women using sex as a device to control men) then I maybe should be happy with the way things are, huh?

Quote:
And it's uncomfortable for people to know that someone else has control over them. I think that men are socialized to think that having control is a quality of manhood, and when they feel they don't have control, it makes them feel crummy.
I don't think that's limited to men...

Quote:
Did I say that?
No, but such sentiment is a frequent occurence.

Uh, no. I think that sullster is saying that the loud and arrogant will regale one with tales of sexual conquest. I find this to be true. I know my loud arrogant female friends go on about their conquests ad nauseam.
That may be, but it is the fact that sullster things that these are "typical males".

Agree that those super-low-rise jeans are skanky, and I'm happy they're going away, but speaking as someone with almost no torso -- my ribcage ends about two inches above my hips -- I gotta say nuh-uh to this suggestion.
I just thought I would say that I do not agree that they are "skanky" but then I never use the word to describe anything. If someone has the body for them and feels like showing off, more power to them.

Aw, tronvillain, agree to disagree? I got enough on my plate trying to convince UMoC that criticism does not equal hatred, without also being the fashion police.

Of course, anyone may wear whatever they like and neither I nor anybody else has the right to hate. I do happen to think those low-rise jobs are trashy (particularly when accompanied by plumber's crack and those bleach swaths on the butt,) but who cares what I think? Wear whatever you like.

Aeh, I didn't say that. i just expressed my displeasure at how men were negatively stereotyped in this thread.

I am an opponent of political correctness and I freely disparage much feminist ideology which indeed has led to a lot of male bashing. Yet, the fact remains that some men are arrogant jerks and obviously some women are arrogant jerkettes.

My intention with this thread is not male bashing. I do not bash my own sex for any ideological cause.

I always hope that discussions can rise above ideologies and come to some interesting observations, even if it means saying some things that look like bashing.

By the way, I did say that girls are sexually promiscuous with loud jerky boys. Isn't that female bashing? Maybe a bit. You must admit that I am fair minded here.

Well, it's often said; 'men propose, women dismiss'. It's quite commonly felt by men that we're the ones that we're the ones that're supposed to parade around and try and catch someone's attention, while the women watch on and judge us.. that's a great deal of pressure.
I agree. While I don't know if I was ever actually afraid of women it was a lot of work just to meet them. I don't envy single guys at all.
Males have to start the conversation the vast majority of times-we have to be funny and witty and have to attempt to look smooth the whole while. I remember times trying to pick up on women where things would just fall apart and I'd come across clumsily.
Then I'd have to walk away thinking to myself "what the hell just happened?"

I disagree. Men should NOT wear belly shirts if their stomach projects more than 6 inches out. That should be a criminal offense. I *hate* that.

Men should not wear belly shirts at all. Or tube tops for that matter. Nor should they be wearing short skirts.
