Football & prayer
Why does football & religion seem to go hand in hand so often?
Regarding the U. of GA football coach; The second-year coach has made religion a big part of his program. There are devotionals, chapel services and close ties with groups such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. If fact, the team attended an FCA breakfast before its Friday practice. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news/ap/20021227/ap-sugarbowl-keepingthefaith.html |

What kind of ego creates the sportsfigure that thanks their god after a victory, apparently convinced that the god cared enough about the outcome of the game to intervene on their behalf.
Why don't we see the losing team blaming god for their failure or admitting that god indeed loved the other guys better. |

Richt can praise God all he wants, but he is reminded everyday that his religion is not the only one because our starting tailback is a Muslim.
Yeap, we win because Allah makes Musa run fast! |

Couldn't stop thinking about the "Football Star thanks Jesus after successful double homicide" headline in Onion magazine :

Seriously, here's something you'd never hear in the loser's lockerroom: Reporter: Well, what happened with all those dropped passes today? Player: You see, it's just that God is pissed at me today, and he made me drop those passes. Normally, he lets me catch them, but I skipped church last week, and now he's paying me back. Reporter: You sure it's not your fault at all? Player: Oh no! I make great catches all the time. Those drops today were God's fault. |

Apparantly God isn't a Minnesota Vikings fan. That's another good reason for me to not believe in Him.

Since I left the church look at what happened. My team went 7-9 including the final two games of last season and the games this season. That hasn't happened since before I was born. So the only two logical explanations are:
1) I am personally responsible because my de-conversion from christianity has wounded jesus christ and caused god to lift the veil of protection for my beloved team as a form of punishment. 2) Poor recruiting, bad coaching, and attitude problems have left the team overmatched, confused, and executing poorly. In short they sucked this year. I’m leaning toward 2. What do you guys think? |

I think the wise thing to do would be to convert back for a season just in case.
