Difference between "evil inclination" and "original sin"?
Can someone explain to me the difference between the Jewish idea of "evil inclination" and the Christian doctrine of "original sin"?

It's all part of ChristGenes 101 - propaganda on why bad things happen to good people and vice versa.

Evil inclination is the part of your brain that argues with your conscience. ("Go ahead, keep the money." --e.i. "No, it's not right! Give it back!" --conscience. "She's so hot! Have sex with her!" --e.i. "No, it's wrong!" --conscience.) I'm no Christian expert, but it seems to me that the Original Sin doctrine implies that we begin in a state of sin, whereas Judaism claims not that we ARE sinners, but that we all have the inclination to sin (as well as the conscience or "good inclination" to oppose it.)
