My 2c worth USD (Stuart Wilde and Isaac Bonewits)
New Age people are often space cadets.
I have also met some pagans in the Unitarian church that are good friends of mine and pretty rational. The only new age author I know of that has a sense of humor, and a wickedly British one, at that, is Stuart Wilde. He has sold over 2 million copies of his books and tapes, and has never been on a TV show in the US or anywhere that I know of, as his philosophies of quietly going your own way are subversive. He is published in the US by Hay House. He believes in not judging people and being a Taoist. His stuff is practical and useful, and non dogmatic. Visit www.stuartwilde.net Also, Isaac Bonewits has a site called neopagan.net and he is a very rational explainer of paganism etc. He graduated from UC-Berkeley with a BA in Magic and Thaumaturgy and his diploma is on the back cover of "Real Magic", signed by Ronald Reagan!! I read one of his first books, "Real Magic" over 20 years ago and he still writes thought provoking stuff and has a "Cult Danger Evaluation Form" on his website. As well as stuff about the dangers of fundyism in any form. Hope this helps. |
