I figure I might as well go see it in the theaters, it'll at least have lightsabers and explosions. Can't really go wrong with that, though I'm sure everything other than that will suck.

And if I can express my unpopular opinion- I actually like the plot. Well, the overall storyline, at least. I'm a sucker for a good conspiracy, especially one drawn out through 3 movies. Too bad Lucas threw a bunch of crap on top of it.
In my opinion, Ep I was worse than Ep II, although Ep II had deeper flaws. In Ep I, you had the annoying kid with the useless pod race, and Jar-Jar. Pretty superficial, just get someone better to play Anakin and change Jar-Jar's character. I'm sure the plot would have worked just the same if he had just been a disgraced general or something.
But in Ep II, the whole romance subplot was terribly executed, and that was most of the movie.

Not really, in my opinion. IL&M has been far surpassed by Weta Digital. Compare Jar-Jar to Gollum. Yeah, see what I mean? And then there's the Massive Engine, which allowed Weta to create huge armies a lot easier. Not to mention LotR's use of some incredible miniatures.

Hey, I loved the original Star Wars, it had a straightforward plot with characters you can care about. But LotR's the new trilogy in town (screw the Matrix).

I'm a huge fan, so hell yeah. Even though II was a steaming pile of shit...

And my theater kicks ass. DTS, everything you can imagine.

Abercrombie is right underneath our biggest (and best) theater. They complain that when we crank up the bass (two subwoofers hooked on one amp, right under the seats), their merchandise shakes.

I will watch it when I can pick it up off of my television's aerial. This is how little I care.

My dad got me "The Phantom Menace" for Yule one year. I told him, "No offence on your choice, but did you keep the receipt?" I returned it to Wally World two days later for something else.

He got "The Second Prequel" (whatever it was called) and I watched it. I felt like I was watching a videogame. Babylon 5, with its relatively primitive rendering, looked more real than the plastic universe Lucas created therein.

So, I'm going to wait for the movie to get "cold" enough to show up on ABC.

Forever the optimist, I'm kinda hoping against hope that the waves of criticism have pounded Lucas' skull enough for him to try and inject some semblance of decent filmmaking and common sense into this next one. Or at least more of Natalie Portman getting skintight white jumpsuits half ripped off.
Actually, that's just my excuse for being such a tool of the Star Wars machine that I'm going to go watch it regardless, knowing full well that I'm throwing away ten bucks and two hours to have my childhood love of star wars further irreperably shat upon. *sigh*

I don't think this will happen. I saw an interview with him a while back and he was asked about the criticisms, and he basically said "well, you can't please everybody. Look at how well the movie is doing; obviously people like it."

That said, I will go see Episode III. Once. For completeness' sake. Then I can be done with the Star Wars universe.

A while ago I put together this list:

Things I want to see happen in Star Wars Episode III: Fall of the Jedi (my suggested title).

1. Someone other than George Lucas writes the script.
2. Someone other than George Lucas directs the movie.

I doubt these first two will happen.

3. Everybody dies. Except for those who need to be alive in the original trilogy.
4. The Jedi discover that Palpatine is manipulating the Senate.
5. The emperor seduces Anakin to the dark side as part of his plan to rid the empire of the Jedi.
6. Anakin kills Windu in a duel.
7. Amidala and Anakin have falling out (maybe she sees him kill someone) and leaves Coruscant with Bail Organa to set up the rebel alliance.
8. Many Jedi are killed and the remaining flee to the corners of the galaxy.
9. The emperor has Anakin kill Tyranus (Dooku) as the turning point in his fall to the Dark Side.
10. Anakin and Obi-Wan duel with Obi-Wan nearly winning, causing whatever physical body damage is necessary to put Anakin in the Darth Vader suit.

I still think the death of the Amidala is what turns Anakin over to the dark side. I think Obi Wan may look somewhat guilty for letting it happen.

I think that will be how the movie ends.

I wonder if there is any deceit about his turning. Or will he turn and then join the emperor who will remain nameless, though obvious.

Are there any missing transitional characters that need to be added? And how much detail will go into the Death Star (which has got to be the dumbest name of a weapon of all time). In addition Obi Wan still needs to mature into the Beaucoup Jedi, being at Yoda's level.

I still think there is hope for III. But I liked II. I thought I was childish.

I'll wait for the reviews. I'm not so cynical as to believe that it has to be bad.

I'll watch it in the theatre, definitely. As movies in general, eps I and II weren't that bad. Compared to, say, Empire Strikes Back, they weren't nearly as good. But they were still far better than most movies that came out during their respective years.

I doubt it. She has to give birth to Luke and Leia without Anakin even knowing that she is pregnant, and then decide that they need to be hidden from Anakin before she dies. So obviously they will have a falling out before she dies. And I think the falling out would probably be a result of his journey to the dark side.

I figured his descent would be a should I or shouldn't I with a period of estrangement from Padme. During which time she gestates and delivers the twins. They are getting back together to see if they still love each other and something happens so that she dies right as he arrives and he can't save her. The whole speech in AotC about being the most powerful Jedi, and even being able to stop people from dying seems to foreshadow that his failure to save her, at her eventual death, is the final straw to his good side.

But don't forget, in Jedi, Leia told Luke that she has memories of their mother. That will be a hard one to tie in.
