Lucky bastard.

But I never doubted the Iraqi's ability to fight. If they had the same equipment as the US they'd be almost even.

AM,

You forgot to put a in your post.

Obviously 4 hits to a single soilders helmet is not evidence that the Iraqi army is capable. Their army is capable of many things. They can kill villagers, they can't behead women walking on city streets and they can cretainly defeat the Kuwati forces.

Did those hits to the head come from semi/fully automatic spray?
Do the Iraqi's have a few sharpshooters?

Who knows? But the substance of your post does not in any way meet the expectations of the title of your post.

What's more, that's terrible shooting! If the first bullet in the helmet doesn't put the guy down, aim for the FACE!

Doubtful. American soldiers are the best trained in the world; a healthy portion of Iraq's military are conscripts with very little training.

You're assuming that his face was even visible!

Remember that this was supposedly the poorly trained conscripts in the south not the Republican guard.

I would expect that the Iraqi's have far more sharp shooters than we do anyhow, they are brought up amongst weapons and being able to use them well is very important to them.

This is different from the US how?

Seriously, that probably doesn't matter just a whole lot. US combat troops, especially the Marines seeing most of the action, get extensive training; we find out who has the propensity for sharpshooting and sniping, and train them further in that area. Anyways, sniping isn't really a skill we need until we get into Baghdad. It's useful for stalemates, defensive positions, and city fighting. But the kind of fast, blitzkrieg offense we've got underway right now, it doesn't come into the equation much.

I could be wrong; if someone wants to set me straight that's cool.
