Imagine...
Now imagine that the God of the Bible really exists (ghost music playing). Now what would you do?
It was meant as a hypothetical question, of course. Just wondering if any of you will live any differently if such a being exists. |

Well, obviously since "He" knows the future I would probably be burning in Hell along with 99.99% of the rest of the population.

Hello philechat

Better that than burning for eternity... |

The God of the Bible? Not interested. I'd probably ask him how small his endowments must be if he needs to keep this kind of a stranglehold on his own creation.
However, I've met and witnessed a handful of Christians who think that all people who try to lead good and productive lives have nothing to fear from death and that even non-Christians and non-believers will be admitted. My mom thinks like that. That God doesn't sound so bad. Though the concept of being forced to spend eternity in hell for just being horribly misguided isn't all that great. 'Course, my mother believes in a second chance even after death when it's all been explained to everyone. *shrugs* Guess I could handle that guy. I just couldn't handle the classic concept of a "God" be he/she/it Christian or otherwise. I'd sooner go to hell. Because the classic model throughout the ages has been notoriously petty. It's easier for me to wrap my brain around atheism. [ May 01, 2002: Message edited by: Hedwig ]
|

plan A> discover the secret to immortality and the fountain of youth, after all, he has pretty much no effect on us live ones.
B> tell him where he can stick Leviticus |

Well, if the God of the Bible existed, it would be the best evidence that Gnosticism is true. If he wanted me to worship him, he would be s**t out of luck; even if I ended in hell, I would still believe that the REAL God (as opposed to the Biblical Yaldabaoth) was going to rescue me.
Well, I think that I would go this way. Mike Rosoft |
