Silliest arguments you have ever encountered as regards God's existence?
Do you believe in energy? [Yes.] Well, God is energy. Therefore you believe in God.
Do you believe in Nature? [Yes.] Well, God is nature. Therefore you believe in God. Do you believe in love? [Yes.] Well, God is love. Therefore you believe in God. Which can be said about absolutely anything of which a man can think, whether existent or non-existent, to "prove" the existence of another thing which in reality can be either existent or non-existent. "There is a God in every culture in history; they cannot be wrong; therefore God exists." This is a terrible argument, as no man denies, and which is so obviously so that I will not even examine it, but instead say that the same people who say that regard atheism as a religion. If atheism is a religion, it is certainly the oldest of them all, since a belief in God is logically subsequent to a lack of belief in God. The silliest of them all: you cannot disprove that God does not exist, and therefore God exists. I still have not figured out how our lack of knowledge of something can prove that that something exists. Also the first cause argument: utterly self-contradictory in all forms. The better argument, though fallicious, is the ontological argument, which at first seems credible. I am interested in the silly arguments which the infidels here have encountered as regards God's existence. |

If you can think and ponder, there must be a God!

If God didn't exist, then words and logic would have no meaning, so simply by claiming God doesn't exist, you have proven that He does.

I really liked this one:
10. ARGUMENT FROM CREATION (1) If evolution is false, then creationism is true, and therefore God exists. (2) Evolution can't be true, since I lack the mental capacity to understand it; moreover, to accept its truth would cause me to be uncomfortable (3) Therefore, God exists. hehehe |

We have a long "...therefore God exists" thread in the Humor forum, Total, with about the same list as Winace's site.
Ah, I am going to lock this thread down- not because you have done anything objectionable, mind you, but the topic is covered thoroughly on that thread and at Winace's site. J. |
