The mother/stripper and a pastor from the school were just on The O'Reilly Factor. The pastor's main point was that since the mother was committing sinful behavior, she violated the covenant the parents and school agreed to. O'Reilly asked him if children of people who worked for Arthur Andersen would be kicked out of school, and the response was that it would have to be looked at. So the stripper's daughter immediately gets kicked out, but people who helped Enron steal millions of dollars have to meet with the school to discuss whether they're still living the Christian way?

In my opinion, both sides came out looking bad. The pastor because it's all about following the Bible and the mother is living in sin, so the daughter must be punished. The mother looks bad because she said that stripping was the only way that she could make enough money to be with her daughter. Both seemed to be hypocritical.

I still don't get why the daughter is being punished for the sins of the mother. Although I'm sure there's Biblical justification for that.

Many single mothers strip as it is quite lucrative and allows them time to be home with their kids and the money to send them to private schools, live in a decent house etc.

How many jobs for unskilled single Mom's are out there that pay 50-250k?

<a href="http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2002/05/16/MN156990.DTL" target="_blank">Here</a> is yet another article on the subject.

For some reason, theis quote stands out:

"Silvas said she hid her job from school officials until this week, when a parent turned her in."

Golly gee, what do you suppose happened?

Don't do that. They are full of crap and will have no difficulty paying. You are also left with a problem of what to do with all the crap. Go for the money.

Theoretically, a private school that took absolutely no government money would be able to do just that. Any challenge would have to prove that the school was in fact a "public accomodation" subject to anti-discrimination laws. Most private schools avail themselves of at least a little taxpayer largesse, however, and so cannot discriminate on the basis of race.

What the child should do is get a lawyer and sue both the school and her mother.

I wonder how many children are kicked out after their parents are divorced, or if they parents don’t keep the Sabbath, or if their parents commit adultery, etc.

The question is HOW did someone in the Church KNOW this woman is a stripper? I doubt she has her daughter advertising it at school, so perhaps one of the fathers of another student, or one of the clergy himself saw her performing. Bet their children weren’t kicked out!

If this woman doesn’t have a college education, other “traditional” job skills, day care in her area is either poor or exorbitant, or if the job market their sucks – stripping is a sound financial choice and it’s LEGAL! It allows her to have time to spend with her child, attend school functions, take her kid to the doctor without having to take time off of work, she can feed, clothe and send her child to better schools (although I wouldn’t consider Christian better) and she is being condemned because she shakes her naked ass in front of a bunch of men who PAY her to do so. She wouldn’t have a job if so many of those church going men didn’t blow their pay checks checking her and the other girls out.

Few jobs, even ones where a woman does have a college education and “traditional” job skills pay that kind of cash! Mine sure as the hell doesn’t.

And why would she sue her mother for taking care of her the best way she can? As long as this child isn't being neglected or abused because of her mothers profession I see nothing wrong with this line of work.

Get the kid the hell out of the Christian academy and into a secular private prep school if her stripping is lucritive enough to afford it.

Those Christian (usually run by freewill baptists and charismatics) academies are rarely accredited and usually teach the worst bigoted fundyism and cretinism. My Baptist parents sent me to a Catholic school because the "Christian" schools in our area were so bad. Peninsula Christian in my hometown has one of those moral covenants. It allows no unshaperoned dating, no touching between opposite sexes, no unapproved music (only hymns and such are ever approved, think BBN), etc... Most violations of the covenant, on or off school grounds, result in suspension or expulsion. Kids get suspended for secular music and expelled for getting caught kissing. The standards are never uniformally enforced. Children of church elders and administrators get admonished at home but rarely face academic discipline. Non-notable children and minorities are generally handled more harshly.

Having a kid in that environment when you don't live the lifestyle yourself confuses the hell out of the kid. My mothers boss sent one of his kids to the school. He (my mothers boss) drinks, cusses, and has a reputation as a ladies man. The kid now thinks that his whole family is going to burn. Of course the kid now goes to BOJO. U. so it's just getting worse.

Let me get this straight...

This Christian school kicks a kid out because her mother will be teaching her conflicting ethics at home.

BUT when it comes to public school, the ravening Christian Coalitionists want to FORCE prayer on my kids that conflicts with my ethics?

These people need to make up their minds.
