It's September. God always takes the first couple of weeks in September off and hands the controls to one of the other mythical entities.

Dunno who's got it this year, but last year about this time Allah took the opportunity to play darts with a few of our airliners...

I just heard on the radio that a nun was raped and murdered in Oregon the other day.

But the Xians still insist that their god is a loving god. I'll never understand this kind of thinking!

:The Lisbon earthquake back in the mid-18th? century knocked-down the RC cathedral there and killed several thousand good christians. That sort of thing, and for example, the Black
Death etc , tend to shake some believers's faith; but you know, some human beings are (probably biologically/genetically wired?) eager to "believe" and Reality probably hasn't much to do w/ it.

Heh. My church was struck by lightning and burned to the ground, a few years back.

Unhappy

Call me a wimp but I really think this whole thread is innapropriate.

Poking fun or mocking other people's travesties is hardly a respectable pastime. Especially about the two nuns...They were horribly violated and I find it hard to believe you would continue to make comments like that had they been two "regular" women.

You think they don't feel every bit as violated as any woman who is raped?

XMAgickaX...nobody is "poking fun", they are pointing out the theists absurd assertions that they are somehow magically protected from such disaster by their God.

Yes, anyone being brutally raped is a horror and happens far too much and often. The fact that nuns, the brides of Christ are not protected by their faith is simply evidence that there is no God to my mind.

Take this statement by the surviving nun
Quote:
"We don't understand why what happened, but it's all in His plan. Whatever His reason, we'll know in eternity. It's so hard for us on earth to fathom these things."
God's plan was for her to be sexually assaulted and another nun killed? What kind of sick twisted religion comes up with this??

Lady Shea...You're probably right. But I still just think that even discussing it so candidly is just a little upsetting. That's just me.

I don't understand either why Christians think they have a magic blanket...even in the Bible they are told there will be trials to endure. I just don't understand things in the world any more I guess...

How ironic and devastating.

Hopefully these people will realize that the responsibility to recover rests in their hands, not some recondite entity who cares not to interfere with the laws of nature to protect them.

By the way, this reminds me...who said, "A church with a lightning rod doesn't show much confidence"? (or something along those lines)

Regards,
Travis
