Basically "Christian" homosexuals want a special dispensation from God allowing their sin, while accepting that other sins should be rightly punished, apparently. Why else would they be Christians? They want salvation from the punishment for sin, except that which they personally deem OK.
Their sin is different. "We can't help it. We're born that way." Why shouldn't murderers, pedophiles and adulterers have the same excuse? Why should a man given to adultery have to confess his sin and resist other women? Or should he just rewrite the NT to justify having many partners? How many times have I heard comparisons of homosexuality to rape, pedophilia and so on ... So once again: Pedophilia is morally unacceptable because it often does harm to the child, and because it is an outrage against the child's freedom since due to his/her age, the child is usually unable to make an informed decision. A similar argument can be made about rape. Again, murder harms the victim. (Duh!) Do you really think that any reasonable person, Christian or otherwise, would argue like you? Adultery is less clear-cut. If you have promised to be faithful to your partner, it is wrong to break this promise. But if you have agreed on different rules with each other, it seems to me that nobody is harmed and that there is nothing wrong with that. Now why exactly is homosexuality wrong, apart from "the Bible says so"? (It may surprise you that not all the Christians - and none of the atheists - believe that the Bible is infallible.) Radorth,
Quote:
Oh, and an OT quote is completely appropriate for two reasons: a). As much as many xians hate to admit it, the OT is a part of the bible. Therefore we atheists are free to quote it as many times as we choose. and b). If the xian doctrines are to be believed, Jesus and the xian god are one and the same, whence Jesus thinks that homosexuality is an abomination--or, at the very least, he at one time thought it an abomination. Sincerely, Goliath |
