Thumbs up Preach it, Mandela

This is great news!

Now hopefully more people will stand up to Shrub's blatant stupidity.

What was your favorite part of the article?

I liked these lines the best:
Quote:
"What I am condemning is that one power, with a president who has no foresight, who cannot think properly, is now wanting to plunge the world into a holocaust,"

...

"Because they decided to kill innocent people in Japan, who are still suffering from that, who are they now to pretend that they are the policeman of the world?..." he asked.

"lf there is a country which has committed unspeakable atrocities, it is the United States of America...They don't care for human beings."

Very good to see except I winced when he suggested possible racism in the US's ignoring the UN. At least this time I seriously doubt that has anything to do with it.

Thumbs up

I like the fact that he's an honourary Canadian citizen.

As for the article, I'd have to go with this:

Quote:
It is a tragedy what is happening, what Bush is doing in Iraq," Mandela told an audience in Johannesburg. "What I am condemning is that one power, with a president who has no foresight, who cannot think properly, is now wanting to plunge the world into a holocaust," he added, to loud applause.
I'm glad that such a respected person is finally making a strong, clear stand against Bush's policies.

"Are they saying this is a lesson that you should follow, or are they saying we are special, what we do should not be done by anyone," he said in his speech to the International Women's Forum on the theme of Courageous Leadership for Global Transformation.
I think this is an excellent question.

As far as I am concerned, Mandela is just spewing the same anti american rhetoric that I can find on these boards. No big deal. I alos dont think that he said anything particularly insightful or impressive.

I'm wondering. What would happen if an American and an Anti-American shook hands? Would they annihilate?

Yeah. Real Americans show how manly they are by bombing the shit out of poor, third-world countries.

...and when not doing that, they get their rocks off crushing the hands of unsuspecting twelve year old girls who naively thought a handshake was a courtesy gesture.
