There is a lot of evidence to support Darwin becoming a Christian in the later years of his life.
None of which exists outside creationist writings, I presume.

That someone else was Alfred Russell Wallace, who came up with most of the same ideas at the same time, even though he wasn't aware of Darwin's work (which, at the time, was not published). Two people independently coming to the same conclusions from the evidence is pretty good indication of a sound theory.

Anyone who thinks that if only Darwin had remained a good Christian, Evolution wouldn't have existed, is wrong. The discovery wouldn't even have been delayed. And we would have called it Wallace's theory of Natural Selection.

Darwin became less and less a Christian as he grew older. Here is a section on his own thoughts he wrote in his autobiography.

davidH, Let me give you a clue. Now would be an appropriate time for you to respond to the above posts with something along the lines of:

"Thanks guys; I didn't realise the 'Darwin recanted' story was a crock. Thanks for giving me that information and saving me from looking like an idiot by repeating that myth to others."

davidH, I believe the fallacy you're hinting at by posting that is called Argumentum ad verecundiam. Do a little research on it. You'll find it taught in the better universities.

Respond to your own thread, man!

Hypothetically, Darwin regretted natural selection (which he most likely didn't), therefore natural selection and or evolution is a false theory.

I'm not sure how this makes any sense. Is it supposed to discredit his findings in some way? What about the other scientist who made similar discoveries? Would darwin's regret make his findings untrue, or vice versa?

I can indeed hardly see how anyone ought to wish Christianity to be true; for if so the plain language of the text seems to show that the men who do not believe, and this would include my Father, Brother and almost all of my friends, will be everlasting punished.

And this is a damnable doctrine.

Here's a man who was able to see the Christian scam for what it was: a "divine" system of bribe and blackmail.

Christianity, Islam, take yer pick. You have a 50-50 chance of winning. Better still, be what your feelings tell you to be.
