Post God Bless you Mr. Rosewater

When I first read it, I just thought it was designed to make the reader feel awful about themselves for judging Eliot Rosewater poorly. But the more I think about it, isn't Rosewater actually Jesus Christ?

Am I stretching it here? Is Vonnegut trying to expose how humanity actually would look at Jesus today? I know Rosewater's father couldn't handle his son loving him as he loved everyone else.

Am I nuts?

No; Vonnegut's Bokono ["Mr Johnson"} is Jesus Christ.
