Angry Scantily clad girls raise money for "mission trip"

I know I just posted another thread this morning, but I'm so mad I just have to vent.
This afternoon, my husband & I were running a few errands. While waiting at a stoplight, what should we see on a median to our left but two 12-14 year old girls, both with long blonde hair, wearing bikini tops & short shorts fashioned from some kind of clingy material. One of them had her shorts folded down from the top & I don't believe she was wearing anything underneath them. Both girls were holding large signs advertising a car wash fundraiser for a mission trip for a local church. They were yelling & giggling & all the perverts driving by got quite an eyeful. I am by no means a prude (I used to be a stripper myself) but I am doing a slow burn on this one. What kind of xians send young girls to stand in the middle of the street wearing such attire? Can you imagine the outcry if say, the local humane society had done the same thing? Apparently, it's ok to exploit young girls sexually, as long as it's for a "good cause". Pardon me for a minute while I vomit.

Ah, but you see, they were clothed in the love of God.

Seriously, this would bother me too- if only because, as you said, standards seem to be different from one cause to another.

-Perchance.

Have you seen what the latest fashions are for that age group? I work in retail right now (yes, it does suck) and I have the general impression that the girl's stuff is getting sluttier and sluttier.

I will pay closer attention when I go through the kid's section tomorrow.

I haven't given the subject any thought either. I have three boys and no girls so it has just never come up.

Anyone out there with girls in that age group? What so you let them wear (or not wear)? Has this been a problem? I don't want to hijack the thread but I think that these are interesting questions.

Later.....

well i'm in high-school so i understand completely, although for a variety of reasons i would never sink as low as to wear some of the crap thats out there. really, all you need to do is look no further than MTV. Namely Britney, Christina, Shakira, Mariah, Destiny's Child, Pink, J.Lo, Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, Kylie Minogue, Holly Valance, etc, etc.

Truly, girls are looking to appeal sexually younger and younger. I've seen 9 year olds dressed sluttily and that wasnt just on the Jenny-Jones show either.

school girls are always dressing like this. Here in the UK they wear uniforms as standard and the shortness of their skirts is ridiculous but they are actually rolling the tops to shorten them. It's not new, my friend who is 40-something used to do it.
You do see men staring at their legs as they drive past. It's funny and disturbing.

What would you consider non-slutty clothing? A burqa? Or would the tomboy look be OK?

Well, as far as that situation goes, I guess even the Xians know that sex sells. What you need to find out is the religious beliefs of those who stopped for this car wash!

On a similar note, one of the new fashions I've noted (I'm an avid girl-watcher) is the shorts with words printed on the backside. Now, on a post-pubescent girl, this is attractive, and some might say clever since it brings your attention to the girls' rear. Now, I've never had a problem with giving rears attention, but this can be a bit much. Yesterday, I was out and noticed a girl who couldn't have been more than 9 or 10 with a pair of these shorts on, and before cry out, "pervert" at me (she walked right in front of me and I couldn't help but notice), it struck me that the real perverts (pedophiles) don't need any help either. This fashion just bring further unneccessary attention to young girls. Now hers said, "CHEERS" so I'm assuming she's in some sort of cheerleading team or something, but others I've seen are a bit more provocative, like "Hottie," or others that I can't think of off the top of my head.
