I couldn't find anything about any defect.
I thought atheists were about rationality and tolerance, opposed to insulting a person of an opposing point of view. <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" /> <img src="graemlins/boohoo.gif" border="0" alt="[Boo Hoo]" /> |

Atheists are about not believing in God. That's all.
Epileptics are more likely to see god, so that might count as a defect, but I don't think this article claims that god is a brain defect. Maybe a brain artifact. |

Well, this pretty much wraps it up for the "God Pod" theory, doesn't it? Any spiritual expirience that can be induced by electromagnets somehow loses its mysticism.
The article also has implications for prayer. How many theists who said that they "felt something" when deep in prayer can be sure it wasn't a roving magnetic feild, or a glitch in their brain chemistry? In addition, if you take the findings in this article and combine it with our knowledge of psychiatric drugs and their effects on the mind, it has startling implications for the soul theory. Too bad, though, about one thing: I really wanted a chance to say "Well, that just about wraps it up for God." |

The lack of theistic replies here is quite telling, methinks. BUMP.

Find God The Easy Way! No mundane hassles such as church! No irritating spiritual journeys! No harsh chemicals! For the low low price of $49.99 (plus postage & handling) you too can find the deity of Your Choice with the miracle of magnets! Now, endorsed by 4 out of 5 Southern Baptist churches.
[CAUTION: Not suitable for pregnant women, those on heart medication, or people with an overwhelming propensity to question irrational belief systems] |

BUMP. Really, the silence from theists in regard to this thread is simply deafening.
