What is wrong with nudity?
As I mentioned in another thread I am always being called names during philisophical discussions and one a while back I felt was a bit weird.
Basically the discussion got around to nudity when someone listed various forms of abuse and mentioned "flashers" in the same sentence as "paedophile". Their reasoning was a little suspect but I just want here to discuss what is inherently wrong with nudity. (yes I was called a paedophile because I have in the past been to naturist sites and taken my clothes off!) I offer as a starter the case of a chap (can't recall his name) who has been actively streaking in many public locations for years in an attempt to promote the view that nudity should not be illegal, he usually climbs a lamppost or tree or some publc monument then takes of his clothes and waits to be arrested. The interesting point in my view is the public reaction, he gets large crowds of passers by who cheer him and then boo the police that come to take him away (these people aren't all his friends btw but just the public that happen to be around at the time), why do they do this? Surely if the nudity taboo is so fundemental or ingrained they should either try to ignore him or maybe boo him and cheer the police? Do you think he has a point? Amen-Moses |

I find the nudity of the opposite sex very distracting.
I would hardly do anything productive (I know I could do plenty of reproductive things though) in the presence of nude, or scantily dressed women. It could take some getting accustomed to though. How long it could take for me to get accustomed to that and at what cost is another matter. So I think those voluptuous bodies should be kept wrapped so that I can keep my mind on other things. Thats what I say. (ie nudity should not be promoted - its too late). |

I think clothing somehow adds to the allure by hiding our more normal parts and allowing us to accentuate the attractiveness of the bits that are left exposed. One thing that I think is a bonus for nudity is that it is very difficult to look intimidating when naked which is probably why you don't find any violence in naturist resorts. Amen-Moses |

Being from the midwest, I would say that frostbite is one reason to avoid nudity - at least for about half of the year.

I don't think now that we wear clothes, it can be reversed. It's bad enough that the girls they dress scantily are getting younger and younger (they make THONGS for 5 year old girls???), and it would be far worse if they were naked. Some people don't have very good self-control around the opposite sex. I had a hard enough time with all the preppy girls at high school walking around in tank tops and Daisy Duke shorts. Juh-eeeeeez. Quite distracting, I must agree.

I see nothing wrong with nudity. I find it slightly ridiculous that people are on the beach with a few inches of clothing, and that's ok, but were you to take off those few inches, it would be SCANDALOUS!!!!
Well, and hell, what about toplessness? Fat guys look exactly the same as fat women without their shirts on, but one is allowed to go topless and the other not? What's the point? Obviously the point above applies about the coldness factor. But note that this would only really matter outdoors, which is when you put on a coat. Inside you would be perfectly fine nude. It's just another silly cultural thing. Good luck changing it. |

First, I have a hard enough time looking at fat chicks with their clothes on, let alone without them on. I don't want to go through my day barfing and throwing up all over everything and causing a mess. So, first off, people shouldn't walk around nude in order to preserve sanity, especially in the workplace.
Second, I agree nudity would get old after a while, which is exactly why I don't want people, especially good looking women, to walk around nude. Three, a thong covered butt looks a lot better than a bare one (unless you're a fat woman, then it looks bad either way). Four, does anyone REALLY not care if they see some old, wrinkled covered dude jogging down their street with his shriveled penis flapping in the wind? Overall, people look a lot better with their clothes on than they do with them off. Considering how stressed out and depressed so many people, at least in America, are in today's culture, adding one more repulsive thing to the mix probably won't help. |

Greetings:
If it weren't for clothes, nudity would lose all of its power. (Nudists don't become sexually aroused, from seeing other nudists all day.) I'm all for keeping nudity special. Keith. |

Serious questions from an inquiring mind:
How do nudist men deal with erections? How do nudist women deal with menstruation? How do nudists deal with ugly lesions absolutely no-one wants to know about let alone see, like stretch marks, penile warts or big hemorrhoids? |
