Someone else had my idea!
Uncertainty, Chaos, and the Atheist Pantheon
Okay, I can see that most of you find absurd my idea that there are patron deities who specialize in ruling the lives of atheists. I'm not sure exactly why you think it's absurd, although I can see that it seems strange. I think it's best to minimize the amount that I mention this concept in an ongoing discussion, since it seemingly has potential to derail a topic. Anyway, though: The site above was made by Chaos Magicians. It can be read as serious theological speculation, or humor, or a warning against dogmatism; with a group like Chaos Magic the three are closely related. I think it's a pretty good example of pagans who, like me, see that it makes sense to see deities behind modern secular society. They got their specific deities in a similar fashion to mine, but the exact lists are different. |

If you cant understand why an athiest would find that absurd, then there is something wrong with you. I could go on, but I really feel any further explanation would not be needed. |

Okay, I can see that, like Godless Dave said, this board's atheists find all deities absurd. And I can also see that atheists might find a god especially unlikely if the god is claimed to be intimately involved with the atheist's own life. But other than that, no, I don't see why an atheism-favoring god is especially unlikely.

Shake,
I am without a belief in either the Yeti or the Loch Ness Monster. But I still think the LNM is more unlikely than the Yeti. Why can't atheists (at least some of them) similarly compare the unlikelihood of various deities? |
