Quite right. This thread was never meant as a "dig up what X said about Y and compare it with what A said about B to see who's a hypocrite and who's not". This thread was meant to cast some light on the inconsistency of preaching the bible yet flagrantly disobeying one of Jesus's commands.

QoS:
But just for the record, a Christian once called me a "fat unemployed lesbian who couldn't catch herself a husband". I don't think anything measures up to that.

I think that that guy was calling you a lesbian in order to imply that you are not a Real Woman, that you are some unnatural masculinized woman or something.

It's like "faggot" implying effeminacy.

Especially when Jesus Christ taught that one is to love one's enemies and not do any name-calling.

Yet he does a lot of vilification and name-calling of those scribes and Pharisees. Which is rather hypocritical, it must be said.

Really? Which questions, assertions or generalizations did I not respond to directly?

I will happily retract my off-thread comments if those I was answering directly will do likewise.

Radorth, have I ever interacted with you prior to this thread?
Yes, on a thread along with Bender. I would like to see the insult which you were talking about (of his)

Edited to add : never mind, I see where your name was mentioned. Right after Magus's, too!
Oh those fundy Christians. They all look alike.

Are you really declaring I did not come to mind? Or does this just mean I will be added to your list now?

I do not call anything hypocritical until I am fairly sure of motives. I gave a likely benevolent motive in Jesus' case which you are invited to argue with. But I do not think you can prove he did not love them in fact, hope to wake them up or at the very least warn others of how God hates external holiness.

No worries here, eh?

Then go and find them yourself. I repeat : this thread is not meant as a display cabinet for what the theists said to the atheists or vice versa.

If you say so.

Are you really declaring I did not come to mind?

Yes. You are simply not so prominent to me that I would start threads about your behavior.

Or does this just mean I will be added to your list now?

What list would this be?

What does evangelism have to do with it?

The issue that QueenofSwords is pointing out here is hypocrisy and double-standards.

Which, ironically, *do* appear to be christian strengths.

Then why was it brought up?

OK, I see. So you get to say Christians are hypocrites and treat you horribly, but you don't have to give any examples at all. Is that correct? That's OK. We're rather used to double standards ourselves.

I'll take that as tacit agreement.

That's not what I said you did.

You well know I think.

Wow. Well, there you have it. We Christians pretty much all alike (but skeptics need not do anything but assert it).

Oh those Christians. They're all alike.

Criminy.

I think "Oh those human beings. They are all alike" comes much closer to the truth. But skeptics posting on this thread would never agree, apparently. Their one hope is that they are morally superior to the Christians, whose demise they believe will help save the world.
