Okay; I'm off to work, you guys... and I shall try to use the new vocabulary words we have learned today.

*epitime* *lonly* *maintience* *intelectually*

bye Dave, Kelly, viscious, and Gooch!

Oh, and it's "viscous", btw.

I've been called vicious (by accident here and intentionally elsewhere) but never viscious.

A most interesting mix, and pretty darn humorous in this context.

I, too, literally laughed at loud at cricket's post. You'd think people would be more careful with their personal ads. I mean, why make a good first impression, right?

Good thing the single life ain't too bad.

I agree. I don't want to feed the damaging misconception that everyone has to be paired up to be happy and fulfilled. I realize there are many people who stay single and like it. My mom, for example, never even considered remarrying after my dad left and has shown no interest in dating. She shares the opinion of my widowed grandmother: "It would be nice to have someone to do my taxes and eat dinner with, but then he'd have to go home." She's not interested in taking care of anyone besides herself, her dog, and her adult kids when needed.

I, personally, would like to get together with a woman again for companionship and support, not to mention nookie. But not just yet. I'm still recovering from my last relationship and am not ready to immerse myself in someone else's life.

From man number 116 in secular singles:

Oh, God, I need an atheist girlfriend// Cute and smart and sweet// Lord, wont you get me an atheist girlfriend// To make my life complete// Oh, Allah, grant me an atheist girlfriend// And I will shun pig meat// One whose mind is good for more// Than to breed and shop and eat// Oh, Ishtar bring me a sci-fi heroine// Kind and strong and free// One whose brain has not been drained// Of curiosity// Oh Vishnu, send me a sci-fi heroine// A sexy avatar// Full of life and love and lust// To help me with my dharma// Im on my knees

I sense he's an athiest heterosexual...He lives in California if anyone's interested.

I was on a rant about others' spelling... then I didn't spell your name correctly? lol

Wonder what those rocket scientists at Secular Singles would call you?

"Vishes". "Vishus", maybe.

They'd surely mangle your name in some new way.

They would take your name and feed it to the vishes.

No, he's viscous, and you were just being thick

I was very single for a long time, as was my spouse. The story is short, we got into an argument with each other about how to make pie dough on net.cooks, and the next thing you knew we were moving furniture. There is, of course, more to it than that, but that's how we met. Our first common point was looking at the behavior of people in the old net.singles newsgroup and twitching in amazement, especially at the contortions some of the very nice, young puppies who believed put themselves through in order to cope with the idea that they had sexual attractions and that marriage was a sacrement, basically...

We corresponded for most of a year without every realizing that the other was of the opposite sex, oddly enough, until we got to the cooking debate. Turns out she was making dough for dumplings (chinese style) and needed to develop gluten, and I was making western pie dough that was supposed to be undeveloped and flaky. It finally came down to "PROVE IT", so I invited the person to my house to make some apple pies. And so it went.

I just found out that a good atheist friend of mine, college buddies to be exact, is trying to go out with a girl who's a student studying to be a Methodis Minister. I warned him not to pursue it beyond the 'usual' or he'll get burned, but he ignored me as he always does. We're polar opposites when it comes to dating theory and technique.
