What if I took a Bible, changed all references to God and Jesus to the word 'Satan,' and all references to Satan to 'God' or 'Jesus,' and left the rest of the message alone. Then I introduce this Bible to a tribe of isolated humans and convert them all to Satanism. Are they any different than Christians? Are they going to wind up in Hell for worshipping Satan? Would they call anyone who worships "God" a heathen? Even though they say they do, are they really worshipping the same Satan that the Christians recognize?
God's name isn't "God." It doesn't matter what you call the notion of the abstract diety described in the Bible. Whether it's Yaweh, Satan, or Alfred E. Newman, as long as you are loving your fellow humans unconditionally and thereby trusting in the possibility of absolute goodness, you are saved and are worshipping the one True "God." When one of the above mentioned Satanists meets the Christ in heaven, He'll say to the man, "Hi! I'm Satan." |

True, but that's not what the op is about. If satan wrote the bible with the intent to deceive, then it would be completely different. If the names were changed, you're right, it wouldn't matter.

I know Jesus was one:
Revelation 22:16 `I, Jesus did send my messenger to testify to you these things concerning the assemblies; I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright and morning star!' But I can't think of the other one. |

Why, it was lucifer of course!
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! (Lucifer was that name put in during translation, and the hebrew word there actually means "morning star") And of course has nothing to do with satan in any made up christian sense, but still, the morning star. |

Hmmm,
According to the good people over at Baptistboards Satan actually DID write the bible, every version in fact with the exception of the KJV. Why would God let him sully the precious word like that? -Gambit |
