So basically Simpson didn't meet their sectarian requirements for a nonsectarian prayer. Hmm, Makes sense to me. <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" /> <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" />

Wow, finally! I have been hoping that some brave pagan, Satanist, Hindu, or other non-JudaeoChristian person would stand up and demand their right to say their prayers before some football game or graduation ceremony or whatever. Yee ha! About time!

Outstanding!
Does anyone know how I would find contact information for Ms. Simpson? I would like to send a letter of support. She is fighting the good fight here. |

Church-state issues aside, these board members were clearly idiots for actually sending this woman a letter telling her that her prayers were not welcome because they were not Judeo-Christian in content. What a bunch of knuckleheads. The smart thing to do (from their perspective, that is) would have been to accept her as a volunteer clery, and then simply never call on her to deliver any prayers.

This happened to the Wiccans at the Dallas City Council. Apparently the Wiccans didn't continue to push it.

DC: They'd probably have a tougher road to hoe, and have a larger risk of setting a bad precedent.
IIRC, the circut court that Texas reports to is the most conservative in the nation. |
