Default Worship and religious addiction

Do any of you ever wish you had some way to worship? Not god, persay, but some way to show gratitude to the universe. I often feel empty after having left theism, as I now have no reason to dig through old scriptures or brush up on theology. It was almost a hobby, or an addiction. Its late. I know I am here and there with this.

My friend says he gives thanks by sharing files through a certain P2P program...then again that's thanks for people allowing him to obtain err...'stuff'.

Personally, if you're still into the theology stuff, I would suggest reading up on anything else and reading it finally on a more objective view.

There's always a reason to read up on them, it makes for great stories. Or you could get a good defense going in case people come up to you and say "YOU'RE GONNA BURN! "

Other than that, find another hobby like building models, drawing, whatnot. That's what I noticed about religion, it really is a waste of time compared to what else you have great potential in doing.

No need to give thanks (to be harshly blunt), just do the things that you never had the time or chance of doing and always wanted to do. :boohoo:

I think a good way to express gratitude is to donate your time or money to the world to help others experience the goodness of being alive. You could also consider keeping a "gratitude" journal in which you record the things that make you feel "blessed." (It's an "Oprah" thing...) And, your new "addiction" can be visiting IIDB and making contributions to the threads.

Oops! I see now that you have been making posts. So keep it up!

Dear Nero,
I think, there are many things to be worth to be worship. You can found many of them in yourself, if you are confronted with injustice, strange power claims from the society or the problem to understand woman’s. The kernel of all this has only two dimensions, which are worth IMO to be worship: truth and love. But I think it is not only be done by worshiping with words and labels; you must stand for both and you are your only reference and referee - and you need apparently no god.

Best

I think meditation is not an object of worship and meditation is IMHO often misunderstood. I think meditation is a good tool to reset and empty the always-busy mind, to be able then to perceive truth and love with a good signal to noise ratio (SNR) not disturbed by a busy mind.
