Post Ohio creches

A columnist from the Columbus Dispatch asked me to keep him informed concerning my city's Nativity scene.

He wrote a piece about it in today's paper. AFAIK, this is the 1st local columnist who has supported SOCAS.

In Lancaster, after officials were chastened for a tax-funded creche scene, the city added a tax-funded Santa house and tax-funded carolers.

Lancaster's Parks & Recreation Department also sponsors a Santa who reportedly explains to children the true meaning of Christmas. But, as a sop to the Supreme Court, the jolly old civil servant also encourages the kiddies to check out Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

(I hope at least one of the tykes asks about Muhammad or Buddha.)

Public property belongs to everyone, and so, in reality, it belongs to no one but a handful of officials. And some of those officials apparently feel the need to swaddle the Christ child in red tape.

Thumbs up

Great article.

Imagine a golden statue of the Hindu god Ganesh adorning the Statehouse lawn during the deity's annual festival.

Or a decorative Scientology e-meter, 30 feet high and festively lighted, erected at City Hall to honor L. Ron Hubbard's birthday.
