Circumcision and coagulation time.
I've asked two preachers about Lev 12:2,5 which declares a woman "unclean" for 7 days after giving birth to a male and 14 days after giving birth to a female.
I have received the same curious response which doesn't in any way address the discrepancy in the postpartum periods predicated primarily on penis possession of the pitseleh (yiddish for baby). They said that God knew the Vit K level of the baby was highest on the eighth day. I presume they intend to tell me that the period of uncleanliness was given a week dispensation by God so the mother could attend the bris. So my question: Is there any accuracy to the medical claim of better coagulation on the eighth day? Is it better than waiting 14 days? |

This was mentioned in a thread before... the best explanation we came up with is that some Rabbi noticed that fewer babies died if he waited to circumcize them.
** leaves now in a most likely vain and hopeless attempt to keep this from turning into YET ANOTHER circumcision thread ** |

No, I don't care about the circumcision debate. I merely want to know if the coagulation time differs on the eighth day postpartum. I scanned through the pages of that rather odd thread and saw no mention of it.
