Lightbulb God and Religion.

I tried to write something insightful about god and religion. This is all from many hours of chatting with atheists and religious people. I think you'll find what I wrote most insightful and thought provoking. It touches upon god, religion, the human mind, and limits, and how they all fit together. I believe there's a god, but he's not here to punish us, but in fact, our life is a gift to enjoy. He doesn't intervene in our lives, we learn and experience on our own. Read more on my site

Why do you assume that, if there is a god, it will have human feelings and/or characteristics?

Also I think Matt Ridley's book on the Origins of Virtue would prove useful. It might give more of substance to your section on Morality.

Hi Ryan. Welcome to II.

I'll let others critique your writings, but I found this too much of a Spinal Tap moment to pass up:

Quote:
Imagine if we could go past our 10% of brain use. That means there is 90% out there for us to find. Imagine the powers we could then possess? Albert einstein used 11%. And look at all he figured out,...

Anyone ever looked at an MRI or PET scan? Ever notice how much of the brain is lit up? That's how much of your brain is functioning. It's ironic you mention Einstein, because it was a misquote of his that started this lame urban legend about people using only 10% of their brains.

The Messiah: Why would god have human characteristics? Well.. he is everything my friend. The energy, the matter, time, space, feelings, emotions. If we are created based on those, he/she/it must have them as well. You can't create that which you don't know.

brace for impact:
Look at the human body, how it can grow through time. We can weight train and gain muscle mass.
Make our bodies faster, stronger, and more energetic. So why can't we do that with our brains as well? Can we not train our brains to grow stronger and smarter? Do you honestly believe you use your brain to your full potential?
It's scientifically proven that how you think is how your body reacts chemically. If you think negative your body reacts by running you down and making you sick. But if you think positive you feel good. If you believe you can't do something, you've already set yourself up for failure, but if you believe you can, it will happen.

Answer me this, do our brains have limits to knowledge and wisdom, is it set to our human experiences?

In any case, this is a good chance for science to step in, and find how much of our brains we use, and do we have the ability to make them stronger. Or are we forever limited to "human" limits.

I've barely scratched the surface, but it's a start into my research of life, god, the soul, mind, and spirit.

*LOL* at Matt!

Why didn't Einstein just make the highest setting on his brain 10%?

Because most neurons don't get replaced when they die.

I sure hope so or this is all for naught.

Loaded question, anyone?

This is hardly law of human behavior. These effects are quite obviously the results of differing levels of hormones released based on emotions.

Except when it doesn't.

Not shy with the loaded questions, are you?

Well, it's safe to say we use 100% of our brain, else it wouldn't have developed as such. As for "human limits," what suggest you, that we must become a new species in order to develop further?

I don't see that this has any direct bearing on the Existence of God(s), so I'm going to move it to Miscellaneous Religion Discussions.
