Let's all go to Arizona!
According to the article Catholics dominant in Arizona, they really aren't. Well among church-goers they are, but the article also said:

'... attend no church at all...' seems to imply that even the major holy days like xmas & easter aren't observed.
I just read somewhere that only 20% of Americans attend church regularly based on head counts at churches. When asked directly, 40% of Americans claim to attend church regularly. But I can't remember where I read it! So sorry. Susan |

Sounds good to me; my husband & I hope to actually move there next year! (My husband saw that article, too, and showed it to me. Pretty neat, huh?)
We have a subscription to Arizona Highways (a magazine that descibes the cool parts of the state), and Arizonians (?) do celebrate christmas & easter, but it is mostly secularized to fit in santa claus & the easter bunny. The magazine, anyway, is pretty unbiased. [ September 25, 2002: Message edited by: Kanani Lirit ]
|

Nah, we don't need anymore people here. Stay away. (I've been here almost 5 years, so I'm practically a native).

Those stats are from the Glenmary survey, which just came out. Nevada tied with Alaska as the state with the third lowest religious attendance, at 34.3%. Only Oregon and Washington state were lower. Nevada ranked dead last in ratio of churches to the population. More info is here. Our neighbors to the northeast, Utah, had the highest church attendance with almost double the rate of Nevada.

There are two seasons in Phoenix (and Tucson, and Yuma). Spring, and Hell. During Hell, which is thoughtfully winding down, I lock myself in the A/C. Actually, with the mountains only a few hours away, I plan lots of trips out of town during the hottest months. [ September 26, 2002: Message edited by: BigJim ]
|

Arizona? I hear that water is a concern especially with all the people moving into the area.
