Hmmm... probably a troll, but could be Bishop SHort from ILJ.
<a href="http://www.baptistboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=32&t=000251" target="_blank">Here's another lovely one</a>. And judging from threads like <a href="http://www.baptistboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=32&t=000250" target="_blank">this one</a>, either they have a lot of trolls, or Mark Twain's views aren't actually all that nutty by their standards. |

This guy can't be for real. If he is, he's an idiot. The great thing about our country is that we have the freedom of religion and speach. Of course, as a Christian, I would love to see more of us, but I am glad that I live in a country that let's all religions worship freely. Christians aren't always right, so it's good to have people coming from other points of view that can show us our erors. The real "religious right" guys are just, unfortunatly, sometimes the loudest. But as you can see by the responses that Mark Twain got, most Christians don't think the way he thinks.

bltl6 - I just have to say that your posts (and not just in this thread) help restore my *faith* in Christians.
Not to be over melodramatic - but sometimes it seems to me like there are way too many people in this country that would agree with "Mark Twain"'s posts. In my experience, most of the Christians I know (including most of my family) would not agree with him, but would agree with your assessment: troll or idiot. Unfortunately, from my agnostic, humanist perspective, it's easy to sometimes *over-react* that all Christians are complete nut jobs. I (rationally) know that of course this is not true, but hanging around this board (especially RR&P) too much can make it seem like a large part of the population is comprised of people like him. I have also noted the responses on the Baptist Board, and this also makes me feel like maybe there is a (somewhat silent) majority of Christians out there who don't want to turn this country into a theocracy. P.S. My vote is still "Troll". |
