Respect of Opinions
What's very odd about the entire "Religion" scene is that there are so many of them. There is so much controversy on whether a selected Religion is "true" or not if there is no proof, when really it has nothing to do with facts or books or whatnot. It's what you feel is "right". No, not what's right, but what feels good to you. Books and teachers are just aids for your journey. They assist you on finding your way.
Religions are meant to keep people in order. They are meant to be a "ground" for those who are falling through and have difficulties and need a boost. They can turn to the ones they believe in and ask for assitance, when most of it is really coming from themselves. Really, a Religion is a fancy excuse to help yourself out once in a while. Perhaps there really is a God, I don't know. To me, there is my own Religion. It's not a God, or an Angel, but a conscience. It does just as much as a God would, guides me through thick and thin etc, and, if I really wanted to, I could "pray" to it too, just as you would to God, Buddha or any other Religion. This is just my personal opinion, and I hope this didn't offend anyone. ..::Rei::.. |

I suppose a devil's advocate would ask you, Rei, where your conscience gets its ideas from. Isn't this just social conditioning?

Rei, I'm certainly not offended, but I *do* think your post belongs in our General Religion Discussions forum instead of here.

I'm not offended either, but I would ask a question.
How accurate do you think feelings are for gathering information? Did Hitler follow his feelings? How about Stalin? Gimme good old fashioned critical thinking any day... |

I have a question for you, Rei.
Are you a FARK regular, or a former one? You (-==-) distinctly (-==-) remind (-==-) me (-==-) of (-==-) someone..... |

I think that one of the reasons there are so many variants of different religions and beliefs is many people want to believe, but they can't come to grips with all the details of their religion. So they believe what makes sense to them, and dismiss the parts that don't make sense, or make up parts that make more sense. I found myself a while back adjusting my idea of God to what makes sense to me according to my understanding of the universe. I can still say that it's possible for this version of God to exist and I haven't found a credible argument against it. But neither do I have a credible argument for it. As time goes on it feels more and more manufactured. This doesn't mean it is necessarily wrong, just highly improbable. |

And a user on FARK (named "Rei") used to sign all of her posts very similarly to "..::Rei::.." that you ended your post with above. She used to put "-=Rei=-" at the end of hers. While I am reasonably sure that you and she are not the same person, I must admit that I consider the possibility of you being an imitator of hers to be a good one. |
