Help needed for Newdow case.
I just got this in the mail. If you're MS Word enabled and have some time to spare, think about volunteering:
Quote:
Dear Volunteer,
We have your name as someone interested in possibly helping out with Mike Newdow's case challenging the constitutionality of the US Pledge of Allegiance. We have your name because you signed up at www.restorethepledge.com. If this is not true, and you do not wish to be on our list, please let us know by replying to webmaster@restorethepledge.com, and we will take you off immediately. If you do wish to be on the list, but aren't able to help at the moment, that's fine. Just don't do anything, and we'll keep your name, and you may get another email like this some time in the future.
If you are familiar with Microsoft Word and are able and willing to help, we are seeking volunteers to aid us with the website (www.restorethepledge.com). What we need is the following:
The briefs from the other parties (and the orders from the judges) have been scanned. However, the scanned files are too large to maintain on our server. Therefore, we have used OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to put the files into Microsoft Word format. (Word files are tiny compared to the ".gif" files that result from the scanning process.) The problem is that the OCR software often makes weird formatting decisions. We need people to review the Word files we now have, and format the documents correctly. It's pretty much common sense, but it is time consuming. Thus, any help you can provide would be appreciated. Note that we can always break the files down and give the remainder to someone else if you don't have time to complete any given brief.
Please let us know if you can help. If you'd like to, send an email to
dave@restorethepledge.com
and I'll get back to you with the location of the files and instructions. It will probably take about a week to sort this out, so please be patient! Thanks!
And thanks for all the supporting words, even if you can't assist here!
