Yea, especially since shit like this gets the fundamentalists riled up about their rights being infringed, which increases the ferocity with which their memes are propagated. Its a vicious circle.

My view is, parenthood is a state of stewardship, not a state of ownership.

[QUOTE]]This sounds like something to be added to the "what to do when the JWs knock on your door" manual. It won't put off the parent, but it sounds like you got the kid to question what he was being indoctrinated with.

Thanks Michael, I wish I had a video of that discussion. It would be great bit to show on my hoped-for atheists TV show! (see thread in Media Forum). I wonder what happened to the JW kid, though. The father just about yanked the kid's arm out of its socket as they walked away.

Well said.

It's generally called "fasting" although drinking during such is usually considered okay.
Don't worry, I haven't died during any fasts yet!

Thanks for the reminder though: I haven't done any fasting for a while and it's something I have tendency to put off indefinitely. (I like food)

Question

Whats the point of fasting? Is it just another one of the many ways people punish themselves to prove their loyatly to a "loving" god?
I guess the lack of nutrition helps a lot with the religious delusions huh?

3 days without food and I`d probably see a vision from god.

God/Jesus DID say that: Matt: 6:25-32. But I don't see too many fundies taking him up on it!
