Question Do psychiatrists still interpret dreams?

...or is that now a discredited method?

I don't know if they do or don't. There's some evidence that dreams serve as a sort of context updating system, integrating the past days events. If so, that might be important. Of course another hypothesis is that dreams are basically random activations of concepts. That would likely have no meaning.

As a scientist, I find the former more interesting than the latter.

The CBC radio show "Quirks and Quarks" (a science show) is doing a piece about dreams this Saturday. You may be able to pick it up on the web.
