Good, according to his "reasoning" he shouldn't care if I lethally inject some lead into his thick, reactionary cranium.

Why should I? The only way these deaths affected me was that 11-9 forced up the premiums on my insurance, and the Iraqi invasion made petrol a tad more expensive for a couple of weeks. Really he is correct in stating that people die everyday and we don't even know, let alone care, if it wasn't on the news how would that recent Earthquake in Turkey change your life? If death and disaster weren't such advertising boons you wouldn't even know it happened. |

That said, I'd say 9-11 affected your life more than you know: as a result of that day, this monstrosity called the Patriot Act was smuggled in through congress, and now you can be detained without any kind of legal defense or even formal charges rought against you, which means basically the government can arrest you because it doesn't like you and nobody can do a damned thing about it. Of course, that probably doesn't worry you: the government usually likes apathetic citizens. |

From garraty:

I live about 3 miles from Ground Zero, and I worked in the World Trade Center. (I wasn't scheduled to work that day.) I will never forget the lines of stretchers lined up at the entrance to the local hospital, and the anxious hospital workers standing by them, for the victims who never arrived. Nor will I ever forget the firefighter, cops and others who died to save others ("As I was going down/They were going up") If you were a victim, or a family member of one, or an Iraqi who died in the invasion, or the relative of one, you would care, and you would want others to care. How dare you, motherfucker? RED DAVE |

I see you're online, garraty. Do you have the guts for a real response?

But I wasn't there, I was on the other side of this vast planet getting ready for bed. If it wasn't for the saturation news about it I would have slept through the first 15 hours or so of this tragedy and not known a thing. Do you get it? I'm a product of rape and state sanctioned genocide, do you give a fuck? No and I don't expect or want your empathy. I can't dish out empathy for the other 10,000 people that died that day, or the day before that or the day before that, or the day after that. I find this notion of wanting complete strangers to feel sorry for me just because they hear about me on the news a tad strange. What do I get out of it? If I turned around now and begged for forgiveness for being such an unfeeling arsehole, if I said "sorry RED DAVE for the loss you suffered that terrible day" and meant it, what the fuck do you care? I honestly don't understand how this works, I've lost a sibling and didn't feel the need to have people show me pity, infact rejected it. Yes I cared, but I didn't care if others cared. Maybe my shrink is right and I am a full blown Sociopath. |
