Is it just me, but wouldn't eternal life equate with eternal boredom?

What is there to do in Heaven?
Well, there'd better be a pub.

Heaven sounds like hell to me. Every conception of it that is presented by believers could be a type of hell without fire and pain. Boredom and endless serenity can also be types of pain.
Hanging around worshipping an obviously immoral god is a vision of hell for me. Then, add being with the likes of Billy Graham or any average fundy you have met. That is a vision of hell, not heaven. Spending eternity with that crowd is a terrible vision of hell, that is far worse than fire and devils. If prefer sweet oblivion. It is not something I look forward to, but total personal oblivion is far better than hellish heaven or heavenish hell. |

You could travel and always have New experiences in things un-imagined all the time.
Perhaps you don't understand the concept of eternity...after a while (eternity is a long time ), you'll have done everything possible, experienced every possible experience (except dying, apparently). And then you can start over and do it all again. And again. More times than all the atoms in the universe raised to the power of all the milliseconds since the beginning of the universe. And you'd still have all eternity to keep repeating it over and over again, without ceasing, until it was rote repitition to you. Eternity, when you think of it, will eventually be nothing but endless repetition. How could it not be boring, unless our "boring meter" is disabled? And if it was, then we could sit in one spot and bounce a ball for all eternity. Not much of an existence to look forward to, IMO. |

There was a Twilight Zone episode, "A Nice Place to Visit", that presented the conundrum of Heaven very well.
A small-time criminal got shot by a cop, and when he woke up, he found himself in a very nice place where he could have a fancy car, he could win all the card games, and he could pick up every woman he hit on. After a while, he starts getting bored and he wonders what "that other place" would be like. And the place's caretaker said: You are in "that other place"!!! |

I recently saw that episode (again). IIRC, Sebastian Cabot was his escort in the "other place."
