Talking Science, the brain and the big qeustion - DEATH!!!

One of the biggest arguements of religion is the "afterlife" and how one must worry about an eternity in either heaven OR hell...

Yet...we are physically no more than a collection of cells that will one day all die - leaving our brain patterns and fluids to die with us.

How can one scientifically live beyond death?! This is the one qeustion no Islamic, Christian, Jewish or other scientist has been able to give me a solid answer on.

Our cells create conciousness - how can we survive past death?!

"This is the one qeustion no Islamic, Christian, Jewish or other scientist has been able to give me a solid answer on."

My reply : Why don't you try in Hindusm and Buddhism while you're at it?

My fiance's scientific community is limited to the major Judeo-Christian religions, I still see the same issues from what I have read of their philosophy's.

My reply : Your fiance or his scientific community supports your life? Why don't you step out of their shadows for a moment and learn something new? I'm sure in the Net, you will find some interesting reading materials (or I can provide some links) without offending anyone.

And NO, you will not find the same philosophy as you find in Judae-Christianity. I should know since I live in a country with all this beliefs (except Jewish beliefs).

Download one's consciousness into a computer? There are a few articles on the subject out there. I can't find the links at the moment, unfortunately.

My studies are my own my friend, your tone is both tedious and a tad pathetic to assume that...I am not one who frat's around with the scientific community directly (aka -in person-) without her as she has the means to contact them.

I own most of the original texts and over 50 scientific sources on the topic - I was simply interested in peoples opinions on HERE.

This is the premise that most theists would disagree with. Vehemently. They believe in a 'soul', something insubstantial that IS who we are. It's basically an end-run around scientific method, but it's very widely accepted in the theistic community, up through the academic and philosophical levels.

50 scientific sources on Death? Those that includes Judeo-Christianity text?

So you seeking opinions regarding Death and their point of view or a way around it (Death)? OK, acceptable argument.

As for my "tedious" tone, I'm like that when I'm fasting, so don't be offended and apologizes if you were.

If our cells create consciousness, then we cannot survive beyond death. If there is an afterlife, then either there is some additional component to the mind, or consciousness leaves some sort of afterimage, or we are re-created after death.

If you want to approach this from a theological standpoint, regardless of Buddhist, xtian, Islam etc etc... OK -
"God" does not look at individual lives but at entire continuous genealogical lines- NOT individuals as single entities.
Individual persons do not have "afterlives". The only thing approximating an "afterlife" would be ones' continuing geneological profile, carried on thru their offspring. Individuals die and decompose. Their "eternal life" is carried on thru their offspring, plain & simple. Thus - you've got the imperative to be fruitful and multiply very early on.

<<OR>> you can go ahead and embrace various forms of animism w/ beliefs in spirit "afterlives" but there is no evidence whatsoever to back any of it up.

btw- another topic, but this is a lot of the secret behind the outrageous OT ages attributed to certain individuals Noah, Seth, Enos etc - they were actually continuous lines of (patriarchal males only!) offspring.
