Post Neat question a guy asked one day:

Name one thing that God could stand before you in a human body and do that would make you say this is God and not the Devil?

Hi Hail
It is hard for me to imagine God standing before me in a human body, however if I had to choose one thing I would say the one thing that would make me think it is God if perhaps he could read my thoughts. I am only basing that biblically though since there is mention of God reading a mans thoughts and Jesus as well but not Satan...
Interesting question..

Yeah, but maybe He's just Kreskin posing as God...

I'll agree with Amie on this one. Can't think of anything else that would make me consider it being God instead of the Devil. Of course I could simply check out his backside and see if he has a pointy tail. Can Kreskin tell you exactly what you're thinking word for word?

Well, if the individual looked like Al Pacino or Max von Sydow or Elizabeth Hurley, it would be obvious. But what if the fellow looked like George Burns?

Ha ha ha! Good one!

Seriously though, I'd have to say nothing since I believe in neither one.

But if I use the usual characteristics attributed to both, it would also be extremely difficult to tell, since, as some believe, the devil is capable of some supreme supernatural feats as well. He may not be quite as powerful as god, but supposedly, he's right up there. Ask him to create something that he can't lift. Or ask him about the validity of, "This sentence is false."

He could wave his hand, and make everything good and wonderful, just as it was before the Fall as described in Genesis, only without a serpent or any other evil moral agent.

Or, he could actually kill himself.

Then, if the fresh corpse is the God of theism, the universe should cease to exist instantly.

For me, since I'm pretty happy as human beings go, it would mean the end of a lot of things I enjoy and look forward to experiencing, but for countless millions of people, it would mean the end of sufferings which God, while still alive, had seen fit to allow to continue.

(In that brief moment of realization before my own atoms disippated, I suppose I'd feel compelled to join the "God-is-dead" Christians...)

If he was really the Devil, then society has one less problem to deal with (but this doesn't rule out the possibility that the dead person was just a very disturbed human being all along). Either way, I'll know it wasn't really God.

Yes, in order to persuade me that God was standing in front of me, he would either have to deliver on his supposed intention to be as benevolent as his allegedly holy perfection would seem to indicate he's capable of being, or else truly die, and thereby undo this less-than-ideal situation he's deliberately let Adam and Eve fall into, and which he's preserved for millennia and allowed us to be born into.

I try and perform the old Solomon trick or was it David, but anyway. I would take a newly born infant and demand that this god or devil slay the baby. If he does, then he is the devil. I say this because the baby has not been baptized and the baby's soul would automatically go to hell, which would somehow benefit the devil.
If this person spares the baby, then it is probably god because he would want the baby to live and have a chance to be baptized to he could claim the soul.
Peace

Well fine then. Get ahold of him and ask him what I'm precisely thinking at this very moment.
