Question the tower of babel and the moon landing

ok, rewind back to ancient times: a bunch of middle-eastern sheep-herders are building a tower that will presumably breach the upper atmosphere and reach outer space. this makes God nervous (as he's apparently in low earth orbit), so he shimies down to earth and breaks up our ONE language into thousands, if not millions, of languagesand dialects.

now, fast forward to the 1960s. mankind breaches the upper atmosphere, and even lands a man on the moon. furthermore, we spend a probe out into deep space, one that is just now leaving our solar system.

why hasn't God punished us for daring to repeat the tower of babel? isn't he still in low earth orbit? or is he now hanging his hat at alpha centauri?

a very curious happyboy

No you see, gawd scrambled the languages because man was cooperating all too well and started getting to big for his britches. He started building skyscrapers, so gawd taught humanity a valuable lesson that day.

Hence why there are no skyscrapers today...no wait, um...never mind.

Come to think of it, wouldn't god be responsible for ethnic problems then?

Stupid gawd, he could have learned a lesson from Peter Parker. From ultimate power comes ultimate responsiblity.

The last time I brought this up with a Fundie, I was corrected that they were punished for being to arrogant. (Although I don't see that in the text).

So that leaves us with 3 possibilities:

1. NASA is a very humble organization

2. God has since moved Heaven further out in space.

3. The entire story is a myth made up by a bunch of Ignorant Bronze Age Goat Herders (TM) to explain why there are different languages when they had no concept of the past history of humanities evolution and spread over the planet.

Cool

You’re obviously not reading enough nut sites on the web. The Tower of Babel plan is still in effect, ya gotta keep em separated, divide and conquer, not only did ‘the gods’ (evil lizard like aliens) confuse our languages, they keep introducing new religions all the time to create conflict. Keep the humans fighting each other so they don’t get too far ahead of our alien overlords.
Geez man, don’t you watch Stargate? Haven’t you read “The Gods of Eden” by William Bramley????
Get with the program!!!

Talking

from what i've read of the old testament, at several points in the world's history God has gotten distinctly nervous about humanity's achievements. he drove them out of the garden before they could become immortals with perfect knowledge of good and evil; and he seemed very uneasy about humans building a tower so high it could reach his kingdom. in fact, it seems that God made humans a little TOO well, as at one point in the bible, God is unable to defeat a group of foreigners because they had sophisticated chariots.

happyboy, who's quite sure God is not omnipotent

God was upset with the Tower-builders because of their ungodly pride. Obviously, the motives behind the NASA moonshots were pleasing to God.

In other words, Jehovah hates Commies, too!
