This woman was a nurse. She had the wherewithall to try to save this guy. Also, if this man had received care, he probably would be alive today. He was begging her to please help him. She walked away.

Not to justify her actions but to maybe explain them... The combination of alcohol, pot, and E would, I think, royally screw one up. I have no firsthand experience but, were she sober, would she have acted in the same way? I have no idea but probably not. Again, a possible explanation, NOT justification.

Well, when the 'ultimate sin' in the gospels states that you can't be forgiven if you diss the Holy Ghost, it gives a clear indication of YHWH's priorities.

She was not a nurse. She was a nurse's aide. I doubt that she had a clue as to how to care for the man but that's not the issue. She had a moral obligation to get him help. Even after she fled the scene, there was plenty of time to come to her senses and call for help. She didn't at any time try to get him help. I don't know how many years she deserves to be in jail but she brought all of this on herself. She decided to use the drugs and then get behind the wheel of her car. She hit the man. She took the man home and let him die. She is repsonsible for his death. His injuries were not life threatening and he could have been saved had she helped him. Would Jesus forgive her? Well, Jesus is a dead guy, so does it really matter?

Bonsoir all.... as a health care worker she had to have recieved first aide training. But I agree that it is not the issue. The notion of forgiveness among christians is based on the believer's willingness to ask for forgiveness while admitting to have done wrong. She has 50 years to come to that point in her personal spiritual walk.
What is to blame here is her drug abuse and the fact that it impaired her reactions and reasoning. Conclusion.... do not drink or use drugs and drive.

Except that she hid her crime for 4 months & in cold blood arranged for the evidence to be hidden. The truth only came out when she confessed to an acquantance who called the police. If she had confessed immediately I could find it easier to blame the influence of drugs.

Then again, it seemed that religion was a drug for this woman.
